Anime Piano Nostalgia (30.000 sub special) : Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Digimon

Anime Piano Nostalgia

Alright, a bit delayed, but I finally uploaded my 30.000 Subscriber special video series!

It’s called Anime Piano Nostalgia and the name says it:
“Classic” Anime Songs everybody knows and loves, from the three child-hood defining Series: Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Digimon.

I transcribed the Opening from each Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon (first Season) and the “digitation” song from Digimon Adventure (First season) – Brave Heart.

All three of them rank among my favorite Anime Songs ever and I guess at half of you can still remember the lyrics for the songs.

Dragon Ball Z Opening – Cha-la Head Cha-la
Anime Piano Nostalgia (Part 1) – Cha-la Head Cha-la – Dragon Ball Z OP

Sailor Moon (S1) Opening – Moonlight Densetsu
Anime Piano Nostalgia (Part 2) – Moonlight Densetsu – Sailor Moon OP

Digimon Adventure (S1) Digitaion Song – Brave Heart
Anime Piano Nostalgia (Part 3) – Brave Heart – Digimon Digitation Song

Alright, that would be my Anime Piano Nostalgia Series, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

I’ll look forward for 40K subs, to make another transcription special series!

See you next time!

Nostalgia (Only my Railgun – transcription)

biribiri

remember this pic? :3

Hello there, everyone!
Sorry for going MIA so suddenly, but I wasn’t feeling well lately and I lack any motivation so I couldn’t finish any transcriptions.

Therefore I decided to (finally) upload a video of my very first anime transcription:

The Opening of To aru Kagaku no RailgunOnly my Railgun
(see original post here)

Looking back at my very first sheet I published, I am quite surprised how much my  transcibing technique have changed.

I think TehIshter ‘s comment best sums up my progression:

Interesting to see the progress in your transcription style. Back then was more MIDI-like and constricted to the middle of the keyboard, whereas now you take advantage of all the 88 keys of the piano.

Here’s a side to side comparison of the Only my Railgun transcription – the 2009 and the current version: (Strictly speaking, I re-created the sheet from the scratch again because I lost the original sibelius file, so I ccouldn’t edit the old Railgun sheet anymore)

I just noticed I improved the note spacing a lot

I just noticed I also improved the note spacing

Well then, see you next season!

Did I mention that Girls und Panzer is still the best show of the fall season 2012?

EDIT:

Alright, here’s a proper post:

So yeah, it’s here. The much anticipated Little Busters Anime.

Is it worth the hype?

I’d say YYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!, but I am also extremely fan biased.

But I am actually quite impressed of the anime adaption by JC staff so far.
I know, it didn’t get the red carpet treatment by Kyoani, and the animation is not god-tier, (in fact, they are really lazy sometimes) but the pacing and the dialogue feels very natural and the Characters are exactly like in the Visual Novel.

This is the first time I’ve done a FULL version of a Anime Opening, because Little Busters! has a special place in my heart. It was really the first Visual Novel, which made me cry. Seriously. I cried. Considering I’ve played tons of other VN’s, this was the first time I was so touched and moved, that I couldn’t hold up my tears…

Anyway, this is the reason why this transcription should really be special (and I am really glad they kept the original Visual Novel Opening for the Anime) and thus, I’ve made the full version. You can stop playing at bar 59 on the first beat if you only want to play the TV size (and it’s much more easier).

Oh, and there’s another feature on my sheet:

As you have noticed, I have utilized for the first time D.S. al Coda or Dal Segno al Coda, which means you have to “go back to the Segno symbol, and play until you reach “to coda”, then jump straight to coda.

I am not making this up, it’s a common term for musicians, you can read it up here on wikipedia.

In short:

my own short composition btw ^^

Instead of copy paste the refrain again, I used this notation to save place in the sheet, you can play the full little busters opening with only 6 pages instead of 7.

I’m currently thinking which OP/ED i should transcribe next…
well, until next week then.

Just testing out something (AKB0048 Opening – Kibou ni Tsuite)

Hello everyone!

No, it’s not summer season 2012 yet, but I wanted to test out something.

I basically want you readers to decide which audio recording you prefer:

Pic related, the ZOOM H2 recorder

A) The (subpar) recording from my ZOOM H2 recorder when I play the grand piano, since I can’t afford any better microphone because I don’t have the money or

This is the one I own btw

B) a digital recording from my Kawai CA 63, where you can finally hear the bass clearly.

Initially I wanted to play a piano piece from Chopin to let you decide which one is better, but then I changed my mind and transcribed the OP of AKB0048 instead.

Why? Because AKB0048 has ascended to my third-favorite show of the season. I expected some boring idol show with a huge uninspired cast but instead we got the NO FUN POLICE, idols battles in space, post-traumatic-stress-disorder-suffering, a MECHA-ITASHA, plenty of good soundtracks – and fantastic backgrounds.

I love the details in background, awesome man, awesome.

So here it is: the transcription of AKB0048‘s Opening – Kibou ni Tsuite.

It’s a really catchy song and I often sing along when the OP starts.

Now, it’s up to you to decide, which recording you prefer: the grand piano one or the digital one. Vote here:

10.000 Subscribers!!! I love you guys (Triple update)

Wow.

Just wow.

When I started my Youtube channel two and half a years ago, I would NEVER EVER have thought that I would gain so many subscribers. I mean, all I did was just some random piano videos, focusing on covering Anime Openings/Endings and occasionally Soundtracks. My only cool feature was the sheet I provided to everyone.

…th…thank you … everyone…

But still, 10.000 people…

from all over the world….

subscribing my humble channel…

… *sob*

….ahem….

Anyway, thank you everybody for your support, for watching my Vids and playing the sheets I made. Seriously.

And in order to celebrate that, I’ll present you something special.

Remember the post I made, when I had gained 1000 subscribers one and a half year ago? I played a piano medley of various different anime OP and ED, and said there will be sheets someday.

Well guess what, it’s about (fucking) TIME!

I’ll presend you, the  LONG-AWAITED SHEETS FROM MY PIANO MEDLEY!!!

– NOT, because I have only transcribed three of the seven pieces due to time constraints,…

… but don’t worry!  There will be sheets in the future… for sure…. I mean… I PROMISE!

And instead, I spent more effort than usual to transcribe the first three sheets.

So let’s begin with the TRIPLE UPDATE!

9_Shakugan_no_Shana_Wallpaper

1. Shakugan no shana ED 1- Yoake Umarekuru Shoujo

Why didn’t anyone ever try to transcribe this absolutely gorgeous Ending of Shakugan no Shana? Seriously, it’s a mystery.

Anyway, the sheet I made is very similar to the version I played in the piano medley, only slightly improved in a few sections.

2. CLANNAD OP – Megumeru ~cuckool mix 2007~

There exists sheets of Megumeru already on Josh’s Anime sheets, but only the version played in the original Visual Novel of CLANNAD, not the anime remix version and I personally think the anime version is better than the original.

I also made a sort of “remix”, because I included a part of the CLANNAD After Story Opening Toki wo kizamu uta in the sheet.

Henceforth, this sheet should be called

CLANNAD OP – Megumeru ~cuckool mix 2012~  (okay it was a joke)

3. Eureka Seven OP 4 – Sakura

The infamous Fourth Opening of the epic mecha series Eureka Seven by Nirgilis. The OP is still one of my all time favorite OP, because the absolutely brilliant use of Amazing grace in a modern J-rock song.
So I extended the OP with the Amazing grace theme at the end, to give it a more proper finish.

Alright, I hope you enjoyed the sheets and let’s hope that I’ll finish the remaining sheets one day…

Well, enjoy those sheets for the time being, and see you next time!

Two years later, ARIA is still my all time favorite Anime

The fourth update within a month? Impossible! (Hyouka opening – Yasashisa no Riyuu)

Initially I wanted to make the sheet for Choir Jail, the opening of Tasogare Otome X Amnesia but before that, I have already finished the opening of Hyouka – Yasashira no riyuu, since it’s a fairly easy piece to transcribe.

Since I am very busy this week with various things, I hadn’t time to memorize the piece, so I played with the sheets I made.

My Spring 2012 anime impression post is coming up tomorrow.

One last update before I go into hibernation mode (Fate/Zero OP – Oath Sign)

I’ve finished this transcription a long time ago but I was never satisfied with it (compared with my Euterpe or Mirai Nikki transcription) but yesterday I received a message on Youtube from a guy, and he asked whether I’ll make a sheet for “Oath Sign”, the OP of Fate/Zero.

*sighs*

translation note: “wiederherstellen” means “recover”

There you go.

This is made in my “old transcription” style, which means, almost no “original parts”, mostly faithful to the original TV-size ending, and – most important of all – not too difficult to play.

It’s not much, but well… I’ve done what I could.
