One last update before I go into hibernation mode (Fate/Zero OP – Oath Sign)

I’ve finished this transcription a long time ago but I was never satisfied with it (compared with my Euterpe or Mirai Nikki transcription) but yesterday I received a message on Youtube from a guy, and he asked whether I’ll make a sheet for “Oath Sign”, the OP of Fate/Zero.

translation note: “wiederherstellen” means “recover”

There you go.

This is made in my “old transcription” style, which means, almost no “original parts”, mostly faithful to the original TV-size ending, and – most important of all – not too difficult to play.

It’s not much, but well… I’ve done what I could.

I decided to ragequit but then I realized I’ve done this before (Guilty Crown Insert song – Euterpe)

To come straight to the point: The last week was for me a nightmare.

You want to know why? The whole story began with a simple and insignificant comment on youtube:

I thought -sure, why not?- and began working on the opening “My Dearest”. I advanced very quickly and already finished the main melody and harmonics in only a few hours.

But then more and more people are demanding me writing the transcription, so I thought: okay, so I’m totally going to make the best-piano-cover-ever-even-more epic-than-my-previous-one and began to add details and my usual original parts in the transcription.

One day, two days, three days passed and I realized I still haven’t even finished 50 % of the sheet!

It was the same story as the Angel beats transcription fiasko. I couldn’t finish it either because of the pressure. The higher the anticipation, the greater the stress.

I admit: there is a sort of competition on youtube: Who is going to make the best transcription, who is getting more views, who is the first uploading a piano cover.

So I really didn’t want to lose this “competition” (silly me). But then more and more piano covers appeared and I thought to myself: I must be an idiot for getting mad about something like this. (I know, I know, history repeats himself)

…which ultimately lead to the second ragequit.

The story should normally end here but then –

TehIshter came and saved me from this dilemma:

Thank god, he appeared! Since Tehishter is also one of my favorite anime music transcriber I believe the transcription is in good hands (also I am really curious about the Animenz-influenced transcription)

After this I felt relieved and I decided to stay away from transcribing for a while.

But then, since I am not obliged anymore to finish the transcription of “My dearest” , my mind is finally free from all those stress and suddenly, my creativity kicked in with full force.

I wanted to transcribe something else and I decided to make a sheet for the awesome insert song which played at the very beginning of Guilty Crown ep 1.

Originally, it was only one page long with the main melody and some easy accompaniment on the left hand, but my ideas kept coming and eventually it ended up just as it is now, six pages long.

I am not lying to you: I have finished this sheet in only one night (roughly seven hours) and afterwards, I only edited some minor things. Probably my brain was cheering: Freedom! Finally I can work on something others than the §%&§ Guilty Crown opening!” and the rest ist history.

If you have already listened the transcription, you’ll notice it has a rather melancholic and sad atmosphere and it’s getting very emotional towards the end. I guess I have collected all of my experience and stress of the last few weeks and make them to music.

TL;DR Trying too hard is bad for your health.

Oh yeah, since stupid wordpress is disabling mediafire direct links (seriously, why are you doing this) I’ll give you instead the tinyurl links, which leads to mediafire.

This is probably my most ambitious transcription project (Mirai Nikki OP Kuusou Mesorogiwi)

Today, I’ll present you my most unusual transcription I’ve ever made: The Opening of Mirai Nikki transcribed in classical-style.

This transcription is in several points of view special, because

-a third of the entire transcription is completely “original material”, to give the transcription a more “complete” and classical-like feeling.

-it is reasonably difficult, technical skills is a must to play this

-is the longest transcription I’ve ever written, (8 pages long)

-I’ve made over 150 edits in the last few days, until I was 100% satisfied with the transcription, so this transcription took the longest time for me to finish

Warning, the following section, is an incredibly long musical analysis of my transcription, which will bore 99% of you readers, but there is a small chance that some people might actually find it interesting. Oh, and some basic musical knowledge wouldn’t be bad, either.

And so, I returned (Hidan no Aria OP – “Scarlet Ballet” – transcription)

missed me?

Hello everyone!

I (once again) have returned after a long pause. If I look back, I think I have reached my usual updating pace: Making three or four  piano transciptions for each Anime season and then vanish for a month without a trace until the next anime season starts and I will come back again. It’s like I’m “hibernating” and waiting for new openings and endings to transcribe.

But first, here is the obligatory

final impressions of Winter 2011 Anime Season:

Shows I followed but ended up as disappointments:

Yumekui Merry

Way to go to ruin a otherwise decent manga, JC staff. Once again. (see Bakuman) Seriously, I am mad as hell. Because Yumekui Merry had a good cast, a really good cast, a unique Sountrack, potentially interesting plot and occasionally awesome background arts and animation, but everything is ruined by that -whatthehellamiwatching- bullshit finale. I really really HATE manga adaptions with original  ending because it’s always blessed with 100% fail. The finale pretty much killed the good initial impressions I had for this anime. If it had only more episodes like 24, it woult have been a hundred times better… well, the manga is still awesome though.

Probably the worst show of Winter 2011 I’ve seen. And I am not even exaggerating. The description sounds so ambitious, it had so much potential, but the anime turns out to be an  incomprehensible mess, mostly thanks to the incompetent director of this show, who doesn’t have any idea which direction the anime itself shoud take. It was aimless, random, there was no built-up, it had awkward and unneccessary fanservice, there were inexplicable turns of events, there was even a blatant filler episode… in a series with a lengh of 11 episodes. -_-

Somehow they managed to achieve the impossible: Not a single character was likeable at all. Especially the main characters was so goddamn annoying. And at some point I just don’t care about it anymore. And the finale was the most ridiculous shit I’ve ever seen. I could only laugh (and cried a little bit inside)

Kore wa Zombie desu ka

Hell no. Why couldn’t you just continue with random your slice-of-life stories? Yes it was nonsense but it was still entertaining, because it was perfectly suited for this kind of show. Every serious attempt of introducing a drama or serious plot will kill this anime for sure.

What were the makers thinking, deciding to force a LOLDRAMA plot in the second half of this series? In order to give this show a deeper meaning or a right to exist? – I’ll never find it out

Shows that would easily be my favorite but could’nt air the last episodes due to an unfortunate earthquake in japan and thus delaying its final episodes until 21. April

Mahou shoujo Magica Madoka

… well I hope the finale don’t disappoint me. Only four days to go. I can’t wait. Finally.

Everything else was dropped before the third episode or I didn’t even bother to begin with it.

Overall it was a very weak Anime season (again), pretty much everything ended with huge disappointments with only one exception and that would be Madoka.

So about my newest transcription…

… I think I overdid it a little in term of difficulty. But I couldn’t help it, I had so many ideas in my head after that long pause and so I used a lot of different techniques to make it sound “awesome”. I included everything: mega arpeggios, insane jumps, insane speed, staccati… I have added everything which comes in my mind. And once again, I’ve added an extra ending for the TV size ED in order to give the score the final touch.

For the first time I also added some articulation symbols,  dynamic symbols and some pedal marks. I think this gives the score a more profesional look.

Someone in the Youtube comment mentioned that the whole score gives a bit classical (like Baroque) feeling to it and I have to agree. It’s sounds rather different than your usual J-pop transcription.

Well, I guess I’ve reached a new level of insanity, so this will be the first (and probably last) transciription ever, where I would ever label it as “level 6 – impossible to play”

You better don’t ask how many attempts I needed to play everything without a mistake.

I wish you good luck then with the sheet ^^

Yumekui Merry OP – Daydream Syndrome – transcription

*drool* I…  I – just can’t get enough of Merry’s delicious character design….

DAT navel, DAT hat, DAT eyes, DAT dangerously short skirt, DAT striped stocking, perfection in every sense……..

… *cough* uhmm… excuse me,… where were we? –

Ah – yes, it’s update time  again!

This time it’s the OP Daydream Syndrome of Yumekui Merry, my personal favorite opening this season.

Ever experienced the feeling, when you watch a newly aired Anime for the first time and you instantly like the new OP? Well, exactly that happened with this Opening. It was on my to-do-list for a week now, (last week I was busy with a piano competition) and now, I finally found some time to transcribe it.

I especially liked the cool intro and the tranquil piano parts in the verse.

Unfortunately, the sheet turns out to be quite difficult again.I really tried to make it simple, but –*sighs*– I just can’t think of any other alternatives…  (an interesting post about how I transcribe will follow this evening)

Well, I don’t have much else to say, so just  grab the sheets and enjoy ^^
