So there is still one open question remaining about Madoka….

who is that f*cking cat? (in the opening)

???

Edit: found the answer:

[…]drama cd 1 from DVD volume 1 explains the black cat

timeline 1 Madoka became a magical girl to save a dying cat that was hit by a car

however, she keeps this a secret from Mami, who would otherwise scold her for becoming a magical girl for such a “half hearted reason […]”

Madoka is officially the best show I’ve watched for years (Sagita Luminis – piano sheet)

I’ll get straight to the point: Mahou shoujo Magica Madoka was the most exciting, best written, universally acclaimed and simply the best TV-series I’ve seen in the few past years.

Seriously, when was the last time I gave a 10/10 rating in myanimelist? I think the last 10/10 rating I gave was Aria…

Also I was pleased about the fact that the show was both extremely popular (read: hyped) on the anime community and I actually AGREED and enjoyed the show. Let’s look back: Ore no Imouto was the last seasons hyped anime and – I hated it. Highschool of the dead was the most popular show in summer 2010 – and I hated it. Angel beats was the most discussed show in spring 2010 – and … okay, I guess it wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t also a 10/10 masterpiece either.

Nevertheless, Madoka is a show that truly deserves the hype and I am so glad that it didn’t screw up the finale, (at last I’ve watched a show with a satisfying closing episode, it’s been a while too) both bittersweet and logical. (fuck those who says this is a deus-ex-machina ending)

Oh, and if you didn’t quite understand the ending (aka TOO DEEP FOR YOU) then check out this excellent post by ImperialX. He pretty much explained everything.

So when I was watching the final episode, there was this scene, where Madoka became a god and Homura must leave her forever… (episode 12 at 10:30 minutes)

if you are offended by this picture because of the nudity then GTFO now because this is art

…the yet unknown soundtrack began to play and… and…. and – okay I cried like a bitch because it was just too beautiful.

So after finishing Madoka, I just ran to the piano, and tried to transcribe it. It was not really easy though, because I have to replay the scene between 10:30 and 13:20 over and over again…(including Homuras voice and her desperate screams during the scene)

I also noticed that this is one of the few soundtracks of Madoka which is actually in a major key. And damn, I really love this track, it’s gives you a good feeling and at the same time it’s incredibly sad. As if the music wants to tell you: “Don’t worry, everything will be fine“. Once again, many thanks to Yuki Kajiura for composing this epic piece of music!

Well, I couldn’t think of how I should name the sheet (I actually thought about naming it Untitled soundtrack 2 but it sounded just silly) and so I decided for “last theme – miracle” because it’s the last heard soundtrack of Madoka. And a miracle truly happened.

[EDIT on 15.04.2013, fixed the name of the sheet]

Coincidentally this is my longest (2:40 min) and slowest played transcription I’ve ever made. And it’s the only level 2 transcription I’ve made so far. But this is for sure one of my favorite transcriptions, because I really love the calm and positive tune.

Okay, now let’s stop right here,  just enjoy the sheet and – if you still haven’t watched Mahou shoujo Magica Madoka yet – go watch it. You won’t regret it.

Filler post: Why, SHAFT

Why. Just why.

Why are you letting Sayaka suffer so much?

She has done nothing wrong. I- .. I mean, – she only wanted to make Kamijous life happy again. I think, I understand how Kamijou felt when he was hospitalized. What happens if  I was at the pinnacle of my pianistic career and suddenly, out of nowhere by sheer ungrateful fate, I got involved in an accident and then receive the message, that I will never be able to play my beloved piano again?  I would feel really really horrible.

So Sayaka just wanted to see him smile again. Because she cared and loved him. And In order to help him, to “make a wish come true”, she have to make a contract by “simply” becoming a magical girl. But she was deceived by that evil Kyuubey and payed the highest price imagineable for her one wish: Her own soul. I mean WTH? Are you SERIOUS, KYUBEY?!? Why are you so heartless and cold? Don’t you know what a human soul means for a human?

And now when Sayaka found out the horrible truth, she lost all interest in life. I mean, how would you feel, if you know your own body is only an empty Shell and your soul is transformed in nothing more than a stupid little gem? Sayaka is literally a living zombie now.

And the worst of all, Kamijou just got NTR’d by Sayaka’s best friend. This means her one wish has practically become meaningless if she can’t be together with Kamijou anymore. She has lost everything.

Oh Kyuubey you evil bastard, way to go for ruining an innocent girls life.

I…

I really just want to give her a  hug and console her ;_;

Mahou Shoujou Magica Madoka ED “Magia” – transcription

It’s update time!

My first transcription for this year’s Anime goes to Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, my favorite Anime for the winter season 2011 so far.

Initially I was very sceptical since it’s SHAFT and SHAFT’s productions usually annoys the hell out of me due to their eccentric director Shinbo and his weird (read: bullshit) direction. SHAFT is trying too hard to be unique or experimental but it’s my opinion that the factor uniqueness is unequal to the factor enjoyment. I almost gave up every hope since I was disappointed so often by SHAFT ‘s works (Dance in the vampire bund was shit, bakemonogatari was too pretentious, Maria Holic just sucked etc etc) and so, I am glad to see them finally delivering an anime, I truly enjoy since  … well, whatever.

Anyway, back to my real purpose of the post, the transcription.

The third episode of Madoka was without question THE highlight of the entire Anime season: I was genuinely shocked by the you-know-what-scene, I just couldn’t believe what I just saw, it was… an incredible feeling… and when the ED finally kicks in for the first time I just had one thought: this is it, this shall be the first transcription of the year 2011.

What a amazing song! KALAFINA, you never disappoints me in delivering epic tracks, especially in creating memorable and catchy melodies.

If you have already watched the video, you will surely notice the sound in the video has changed: That’s right, I finally got a new microphone for recording my playing. The sound is now in much better quality than my older videos. My only problem is the volume: It turns out to be a little bit quiet, so you have to turn up the volume. Oh well it can’t be helped.

I did the transcription within a few hours, because the left hand is basically repeating the same rythm and pattern over and over again.

Because the TV ED was a little bit short, I extended my transcription a little by adding some original material. I basically had the idea of a music box, who plays the refrain melody. I think it is a good contrast with the excited and restless main piece.

Playing the transcription turned out to be more difficult than it seems, so playing it requires a lot of effort, but since it got such an awesome melody, I have also made a simplified version, which can be found below.
